What if…we spent this Memorial Day taking in the peacefulness of the Delaware River while reflecting on what’s really important.
We would just like to send a special thank you out this week to all the men and women who served in the United States military.
Memorial Day marks a lot of things to a lot of people. For some, it’s the beginning of our summer vacation, a bookend to the sun filled months and the fun filled days ahead. For others, it marks the day where we remember everyone who served in the United States Armed Forces. For us, it’s both.
Our corner of the world was formed on the backs of men and women serving in the United States military. Friends, family, community members, customers, all recognize and thank everyone who has gone to the academy, hit the front line, or manned the equipment keeping us safe.
Memorial Day also means a relaxing three day weekend for everyone.
This is it – the last three day weekend before the school year is out. If you’re like me you’re probably thinking about what you’re going to do with the kids on Monday. With the end of the school year looming the kids are getting antsy and you’re running out of ideas to keep the whole family entertained. No summer camp yet, no one’s going to want to do puzzles or yard work on their last day off before summer, and there is a very good chance that no one is going to have homework.
Well, you’re in luck. Here at Lander’s, we’ve got a ton of great deals for you and your family this Memorial Day weekend. You could spend the night under the stars roasting marshmallows and chatting about what’s on everyone’s bucket list for the summer. Or take a trip down the rapids at Skinners Falls, racing the kids to the end because (as always) the loser’s got to do the dishes. Or just relax in a raft from Narrowsburg to Ten Mile River. Remember the best gift you can give your children is your happiness. A bit of self-care goes a long way to showing your children how to care for themselves as they grow older.
While you’re out on the river don’t forget to reflect.
Memorial Day allows us all the chance to be thankful for what we have; the beauty of the Delaware River, an amazing community to be a part of, and our families and friends. Spending time on the river always makes us think about the opportunities we have to help our guests relax and enjoy what we are surrounded by every day. On the river this weekend take a moment to pause and reflect on the finer things in your life.
But most of all – spend this Memorial Day weekend having fun with family and friends.
Bring the kids, bring the nieces and nephews, you could even bring your work friends – everyone is welcome at Lander’s. This long weekend is meant to be spent with people you love, celebrating the people who made it possible to enjoy the things you love. And here at Lander’s we have no bigger love than that for the Delaware River.
River Tip: The best long weekends are spent having safe fun on the river – so always wear your life jacket and water shoes!
